The Fugees saw that life can indeed play out like any gripping movie or soundtrack. Whether it be a mythical landscape with plotlines and players, the struggles were all too real. Įnvisioned as an ‘audio film’, as Hill called it, The Score painted the Fugees life story with lucid strokes and at others, with a degree of surrealism, within a tough and unforgiving world populated by jokers, cowboys, gangsters, politicians, zealots, bigots, ex-lovers - villains who trade in greed, injustice and brutal violence.
