#THE FUGEES THE SCORE TRACKLIST MOVIE#

The Fugees saw that life can indeed play out like any gripping movie or soundtrack. Whether it be a mythical landscape with plotlines and players, the struggles were all too real. Įnvisioned as an ‘audio film’, as Hill called it, The Score painted the Fugees life story with lucid strokes and at others, with a degree of surrealism, within a tough and unforgiving world populated by jokers, cowboys, gangsters, politicians, zealots, bigots, ex-lovers - villains who trade in greed, injustice and brutal violence. It was lauded for its blend of hip hop, soul and reggae, the amazing ease with which it flipped between rapping and singing, and its launching of a major star in Ms Lauryn Hill.īut if you only know the Fugees for their famous remake of ‘Killing Me Softly With His Song’, you might be surprised by the rapid firing rhymes, stirring and surreal imagery of the struggles within their neighbourhoods and communities and a social consciousness and political focus that underpins much of what they brought to life on their sophomore record. New Jersey’s Fugees delivered a seminal 90s release with The Score.
